🕰️ Part 1 · From Now to the Past

说现在用 am / is / are；说过去，就把 be 动词变成 was / were。

Be 动词的过去式

现在	过去	主语	例句
am	was	I	I am a student. → I was a student.
is	was	he / she / it；一个人或一样东西	She is happy. → She was happy.
are	were	you / we / they；复数名词	They are friends. → They were friends.

记忆口诀：am、is 变 was；are 变 were。I 用 was；you、we、they 用 were；he、she、it 和单数名词用 was。You 不管表示“你”还是“你们”，过去时都用 were。

现在

He is my best friend.

过去：He was my best friend.

现在

We are friends.

过去：We were friends.

现在

I am happy.

过去：I was happy yesterday.

🏠 Part 2 · There Was / There Were

There is → There was

后面是一个人/物，或不可数名词，用 was。

There was a cat under the tree yesterday.

昨天树下有一只猫。

There was some milk in the glass.

There are → There were

后面是复数名词，用 were。

There were two birds in the tree last week.

上周树上有两只鸟。

There were many students in the classroom.

易错点：there 不变，变的是 was / were；看后面的名词单复数。

三种句式 · Statements, negatives, and questions

肯定句

主语 + was / were + 其他

They were happy.
There was a dog.

否定句

was / were + not

was not = wasn't
were not = weren't

There weren't three apples.

一般疑问句

把 Was / Were 提到句首。

Were they happy?
Yes, they were. / No, they weren't.

回答看主语：I / he / she / it 和单数名词用 was；you / we / they 和复数名词用 were。问 Were you happy?，可以答 Yes, I was. / No, I wasn't. There be 问句用 there 回答：Was there a dog? — Yes, there was.
